Michael (Mike) Gerom Jones was born on February 23, 1990 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Gerom Jones and Dorothy (Dottie) Angel Jones.

Mike was a member of Hickman Mills Community Christian Church. He attended Hickman Mills C-1 School District. He went to Ingels Elementary School, Smith-Hale Middle School and Ruskin High School. He played the violin in the school orchestras at Smith-Hale and Ruskin. He also played golf and tennis and participated in Boy Scouts while in high school. After graduating from Ruskin High School in 2008 he attended Longview Community College for one year.

Mike’s employment included Cosentinos Price Chopper, Thoroughbred Ford, McCarthy Hyundai, Good Day Farm and most recently he worked at Fed Ex as a package handler. He was also Co-Founder/CEO of I Aint Gotta a Floss Productions (founded in 2006) and 10.08 Entertainment (started in 2010). He loved making his music. He also loved fishing, kayaking, camping and generally spending time outdoors with family and friends.

This is an excerpt from Mike’s song Mountain from his album The Jonesy EP: “Jonesy – “A caring person, he just wants to help, do everything for his friends and nothing for himself” – “During my journey to find myself I found was today’s society of mainstream media led me to believe was a monster. I analyzed the beast and realized it was me. I came to the conclusion that in world that mass markets being different, we should stop trying, stop trying to be a best, stop trying to be our parents our mentors our role models, stop trying to be different just be ourselves cause somewhere where we see different is the norm. The only way to be original is to be who you are. – Jonesy”

Mike departed this life on March 21, 2026 at age 36. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Jones, paternal grandfather William L. Jones and maternal grandparents Louis Angel and Dorothy Griffin Angel.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Gerom and Dottie Jones; his brother Will Jones and wife Brandi Fox and their son Atticus Fox of Kansas City; his brother Terrence Woods of Benton Harbor, Michigan and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Mike touched many lives in his short time on this earth and will be missed by all. Mike was always willing to help anyone he could, and he continued to do that after his death by being an organ donor.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike Jones on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Lee’s Summit Christian Church, 800 NE Tudor Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086. A Visitation will be held at 3:00PM and the Celebration of Life will be at 4:00PM followed by a balloon release honoring Mike. Everyone is welcome to join us for a repast in the church social hall immediately following the balloon release. Everyone is encouraged to wear something red in honor of Mike.
