IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Lane
Ladd
January 14, 1967 – March 19, 2026
Michael Lane “Mike” Ladd, 59, passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2026, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1967, the son of William Harold “Bill” Ladd and Nancy (Stephens) Shroyer. Mike was a lifelong resident of Harrisonville, Missouri, where he spent many years with his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Irma Ladd. Over the years, Mike worked in the plumbing and construction trades, as well as in the trucking industry as an over-the-road truck driver. He later became an excavating equipment operator. Mike enjoyed mushroom hunting, feeding and watching deer, and observing wildlife in general. He had a deep love for all dogs. He liked anything related to Dale Earnhardt and was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. More than anything, he loved being “Papaw” to his granddaughters. He earned the nickname “Lightning Mike” after lightning struck his truck while he was driving on the highway. He was a simple man—generous, kind, and always willing to help others. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Lloyd and Irma (Altum) Ladd; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Helen (Moss) Stephens; his brother, Jeff Ladd; his stepfather, Roy Shroyer; and his dog, Bowser. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Angie Ladd; stepson, Tyler Lyon (Sammy Murawka); step-granddaughters, Alyna Christopher, Addie Christopher, and Lanah May Lyon; sister, Jennifer Gideon; nephew, Christopher; niece, Stephanie; his parents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
