Michael Shane Oliver, 58, was born on November 28, 1967, in Brookfield, Missouri, to Sharon Seiber [Gender] and Bennie Oliver. Michael departed this life on August 18, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of the family and friends who meant so much to him.

Michael was a proud member of Operative Plasterers’ & Cement Masons’ Local Union 518 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Michael was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing and being on the water—whether it was a lake, a river, or the ocean, that was where he was happiest. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed cheering on his team. He also loved attending Kansas City Royals games with his son, daughter, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

But above everything else, Michael loved being a Papa.

His grandchildren were one of the greatest joys of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them and took tremendous pride in watching them grow. The memories he created with Conner, Aryanna, Zayne, Sylis, Cherish, Liam, Marek, and Jaylinn will live on in their hearts forever.

Michael had a heart that made room for everyone. He believed in spreading love and kindness to everyone he met. He never cared about someone’s background or where they came from. Michael met people exactly where they were and offered them love, acceptance, and compassion. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for.

Michael also loved bringing people together. He enjoyed cooking for groups of people and was always ready for a good barbecue. Food, laughter, family, friends, and fellowship were some of the things that made him happiest.

Michael’s faith in God was an important part of his life. His relationship with God gave him strength and guidance throughout his journey. Michael was also involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found purpose in helping other men navigate their own journeys in recovery. He understood the power of second chances and was always willing to reach out a hand to someone who needed it.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfonzo and Mary Elizabeth (Noah) Oliver, Ethel Margret Jacobs [Gender], and Jack [Gender]; his father, Bennie Oliver; his brother, Christopher Koch; and his sweet dog, Jessie.

Michael leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughter Brooke Oliver and son-in-law James Richards; his son Brandon Oliver and daughter-in-law Katie Oliver; and his beloved grandchildren, Conner, Aryanna, Zayne, Sylis, Cherish, Liam, Marek, and Jaylinn.

He also leaves behind his mother, Sharon; his brothers, Randy, Doug, and Rodney; his sisters, Heather and Leasa; nieces and nephews Michelle, Megan, Guage, Dustin, Zach, and Austin, Chastin, and many other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved granddog, Ruby.

Michael leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind pieces of himself in every person he loved, every life he touched, every lesson he taught, every meal he cooked, every fish he caught, every game he cheered for, every laugh he shared, and every person he helped along the way.

His absence will be deeply felt, especially by the family who still needed his advice, his hugs, his laughter, and simply him.

Although our hearts are broken that Michael is no longer here to share in the moments still to come, we find comfort knowing that his suffering is over, his work on earth is finished, and he is now at peace with God.

Michael’s grandchildren will grow up knowing how deeply their Papa loved them. His children will carry his strength with them. His family and friends will continue to tell his stories, laugh about his memories, and speak his name with love.

Michael, you fought your fight. You gave love freely. You helped others find their way. You loved your family fiercely. And you left this world having made it a little kinder simply by being in it.

Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

Rest peacefully, Dad.

Rest peacefully, Papa.

Until we meet again, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
