Michelle Lee Cusumano (nee Ahlstedt), 57, passed away May 9 th, 2026, in her home in Overland Park. Michelle was born on October 6, 1968, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Leona(Schick) Bailey and Robert Ahlstedt. She graduated from LaQuinta High School in LaQuinta, CA, and went on to Oral Roberts University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science. She later earned her master’s degree in nursing at St. Mary’s University, where she was an accomplished student, making the Dean’s list multiple times. She had a heart for helping others and loved her work in health care. Michelle was blessed with 5 children and adored being a mom. Even after all her children grew up and left the house, she still made sure to spend time with them every single week, gathering for Saturday coffee or ultimate frisbee or an afternoon playing card games like Spades or Swedish Poker. She delighted in games and competition and dearly loved to laugh. Michelle is preceded in death by her father, Robert Ahlstedt. Michelle is survived by her mother, Leona; her sisters, Diana Holloway and Susan Ahlstedt; her brothers, Jon Walp, Mike Ahlstedt, and Steve Ahlstedt; and her children, Nevin Barker, Mackenna O’Brien, Kendall Barker, Crimson Brown, and Jadyn Barker.
