Mildred Louise Thompson (Coleman)

Mildred Thompson, 71, was born to Warden Coleman and Mary Louise Triplett in Little Rock, Arkansas, on December 4, 1953. She departed this earthly life on June 9, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ronald Triplett; her brother, Fredrick Coleman; and her nephew, Fredrick Franklin.Mildred moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she graduated from East High School, Class of 1971.

She dedicated over a decade of service to Integrity and the Greater Kansas City Foundation. Mildred had a deep and unwavering love for children, which she expressed through years of service. As a longtime Sunday school teacher, she shared her faith and warmth with countless young hearts. She also constructed and directed the youth choir, nurturing not only their voices but their confidence and spirit. Her impact on generations of children is a lasting legacy of her compassion and joy. Due to her love for children, Mildred made a career at First Student, where she was employed for 30 years. She was affectionately known by many as Mil, Milgie, and other endearing names and cherished by all who knew her from a young age.

Mildred embraced her faith, dedicating her life to serving God since the age of 12. Her commitment was evident through her enthusiastic participation at Maranatha Family Worship Center, where she sang joyfully at early morning service each Sunday. In her devoted service, Mildred passionately led the benevolence fund known as 'No Lack in the House' (Love Charity Ministry), pouring her heart into aiding the community. She also played an active role in the 'Catch Up with Jesus' ministry, reflecting her deep commitment to outreach. Her compassion guided her visits to nursing homes, Niles Home, and services in the local street ministry.

Evangelism was a natural extension of her devotion, as Mildred fervently shared the Lord's goodness with others. The church was at the very core of her existence, prioritizing her faith each day, Monday to Sunday. Jesus was always first in her life, and her family was right after. Mildred was the essence of a true giver, thoughtfully crafting personalized gifts for every occasion. With her infectious spirit, she brought joy to others- offering advice, singing a song, sharing jokes, or lifting others up in prayer. Her warmth and laughter were always entwined with genuine love and kindness. A true beacon of faith and love. Although she faced obstacles, they never slowed her down. As she would always say, "It might be bad, but it could be worse."

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Wilmer Thompson, her children; Ruschel Cornelius (Harley), David Coleman, Danielle Brown (Micheal), Sarah Thompson, and Colette Thompson (Bonus Daughter).
