Joyce Beatrice Beasley

December 23, 1933 — March 24, 2022

Kansas City

On March 24, 2022 Joyce Beasley our Mother, Gram, Nana, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend took the hand of her Savior and moved on to glory.

Joyce began her life’s journey on December 23, 1933 in Springfield,  Missouri to her parents, Bertie Beasley and Percy Beasley. To this marriage eight children were born. Dorothy Gill and Yvonne Williams are Joyce’s surviving siblings.

Joyce began her education in the Springfield school system and attended Lincoln High School and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Her   sisters remember Joyce proudly participating as a majorette with the marching band. After completing high school her next step was in the medical profession where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) education. Kansas City was selected to further her education and to work in the field of Nursing.  Joyce worked at St Luke’s and Research Medical Center on specialized wards that included the kidney transplant department and retired after thirty years of service. She attended Penn Valley Community College and obtained an Associate of Science degree. Joyce put the needs of others ahead of her desire to complete a degree in hospital management from Avila College.

Joyce’s calling to serve the Lord began with her baptism at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri and continued with her membership with Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev A.  M. Hudson Sr., and continued her membership under Rev William F. Snorgrass.  Joyce served the Lord and shared her Love in the following ways and ministries; Teacher for little one’s in Vacation Bible School * Children’s Church for the little one’s * Progressive’s Women’s            Missionary Union (secretary)* Phebe  Mission Circle (mission in action chair, 2nd Vice Chairperson) * Reading with 2nd Graders at Martin    Luther King Elementary School* Planning and preparing meals for City Union Mission Men’s Center* The Progressive Senior Choir (secretary)* Progressive Sunday School and Bible Study* Progressive Nursing      Ministry* Participant in several plays at Progressive *All occasion Card Ministry* New Era District Women’s Missionary Union (participant in special programs) *New Era District Choir (Annual Vesper Program Chairwoman) *Cleveland Avenue Women’s Quilting Group *Kansas  City Board of Election (Supervisor Judge) and *Member Kansas City Community Gardens.

All knew that Joyce loved working with children, baking, gardening, quilting and conversations. Mom remembered what people liked and would surprise them in her special ways.

As Mom’s Village we will all miss her dearly however she would want us to remember what she has taught and shown us by her example. Share the Love of Christ with all by treating others better than you would treat yourself and not to complain.

With Love,

The Beasley, Gill, Williams, Johnson, Rainey,

Webb, and Cosby families.
