Stuart James North

“Hoss” Stuart James North, 57, passed away on April 8 th at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City. Hoss was born October 19, 1965, in Kansas City, the son of James O. North Sr. and Maxine (Phillips)North. Both preceded him in death. He united in marriage to Canice (Kandie) Holt of Kansas City on November 30, 2002, and she survives him and the home. Additional survivors include sisters Phyliss VanHuss (Don) of Oak Grove, Mo, Connie Truelove (Jack) of Hermitage, Mo, Deanna Burger of Wyoming, and Elizabeth “Libby” Kerr of Little Elm, Texas. Stu was survived by several generations of nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as their favorite uncle.

Stu was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Peggy Pruitt, and brother James O. North Jr of Florida. Hoss graduated from Northeast Sr. High School, 1983 class. He attended tech school to obtain his CDL license, following in his dad’s truck-driving footsteps. For several years, he was a crew member for a popular haunted house, “The Main Street Morgue,” and it was there he met his good friend, DanDiefenderfer. He drove a taxi and was dispatched for Checker Cab. Before retirement, he was a tow truck driver for Penn’s Tow and Jim’s Tow. Stu’s hobbies included fishing, riding his motorcycle, writing poetry, cheering on the KC Chiefs, and flying his drones. Hoss was a lifetime member of the Freedom of Road Riders and a member of Visions MC of KC. He loved the open road and the camaraderie of his brothers and sisters in both organizations. Hoss created his own annual charity coat drive for Kansas City Rescue Mission as well as helping his wife organize her charity run “Together We Rise” for the benefit of local foster children. He was a non-denominational minister, providing ministry and counseling to those in his circle of family and friends. Hoss touched family and friends with his big heart, kindness, and sweet disposition. Family was incredibly important to him, whether blood-related or not. He had a delightful sense of humor and quick wit. His sparkling blue eyes, chuckle, and sweet smile will be dearly missed. The Hospice House provided first-class comfort care to Hoss and his family during his short stay. We are eternally grateful for the compassionate care he received. Celebration of A Life Well Lived will be held on a future date to be determined.
