October 30, 1950 – July 16, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norma B. (Dover) Smith, who passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 75.

Norma was born on October 30, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Leona May (Fisher) Dover and Chester Franklin Dover. She was known for her kind heart, compassion, and generous spirit. A devoted friend to many, Norma never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. Her warm smile and caring nature touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Above all else, Norma treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, William Mittelstadt and his wife, Susana Mittelstadt, and Jason Smith. She was also a proud grandmother to Ryan Mittelstadt and his wife, Cara Jean Mittelstadt. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Donna Bass, Doris Hardie, and Charles Dover, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Norma loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed watching movies, reading, coloring, and sharing conversations with those she loved. In her later years, she especially enjoyed socializing with friends at the nursing home, playing bingo, listening to music, and watching YouTube. Her joyful personality and love of conversation brought smiles to those around her.

Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Norma is now at peace after several years of health challenges. The love she shared, the kindness she showed, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and caregivers who cared for Norma with compassion during her final days, as well as to everyone who offered prayers, love, and support throughout this difficult time.

A Memorial Service celebrating Norma’s life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes Street, Gladstone, MO 64118. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to celebrate her life, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was.

A meal and time of fellowship will follow the service. Food will be provided, though guests are welcome to bring a favorite dish to share if they wish.

Forever loved and forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
