Norman Leslie Tapscott

June 3, 1943 – October 25, 2026

Norman Leslie Tapscott, 83, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away on October 25, 2026.

Norman was born on June 3, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Norman and Oneta (McCommas) Tapscott. He grew up in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where he attended Lee’s Summit schools from kindergarten through his graduation in 1961. During his youth, Norman developed a love for the outdoors and earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication, determination, and adventurous spirit.

On August 15, 1965, Norman married Judy Darlene Meyer. Together, they built a life centered around family while raising their three children, Don, Daron, and Cara. In 1992, Norman and Judy made Pleasant Hill their home, where they shared many wonderful years together.

Norman continued his education at Central Missouri State University (CMSU), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and Technology with a minor in Safety in 1973. He dedicated 45 years to a successful career as an insurance adjuster before retiring in 2020.

Norman had a passion for life and an adventurous spirit. He loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting, gardening, or attending music festivals. His enthusiasm for fast cars and anything with an engine was a lifelong passion. He enjoyed working on cars and even took his love of speed to the racetrack, competing in NASCAR and drag boat racing. Norman had a special love for Corvettes and dreamed for years of owning one of his own. In the last few years of his life, he finally made that lifelong dream a reality, a special accomplishment that brought him tremendous joy. Whether behind the wheel, working in the garage, or enjoying the outdoors, Norman was happiest pursuing the things he loved.

Above all, Norman’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind and the memories they will forever cherish. His love of adventure, hardworking nature, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will live on through those who knew and loved him.

Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Darlene Tapscott, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage; his parents, Norman and Oneta Tapscott; and his sister, Janet McCracken.

He is survived by his three children, Don Tapscott and his wife Kim, Daron, and Cara Johnson and her husband Tom, his sister, Juanita Kidwell; and his five grandchildren: Eryn, Maverick, Blaise, Brylee, and Brecklyn, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
