Ok Sim Kim

Ok Sim Kim, affectionately known to many as "Imo," passed away on July 2, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 75. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on June 12, 1950, in Seoul, South Korea, Imo brought with her a deep sense of resilience and dedication that would define her life’s journey. She built a meaningful career as a business owner, operating her own enterprise for nearly two decades. Through her work, she provided employment opportunities within the Korean community and was known for her tireless work ethic—never hesitating to roll up her sleeves and labor alongside those she supported.

Imo’s nurturing nature extended far beyond her professional life. She had a remarkable green thumb and surrounded herself with vibrant plants that flourished under her care. Whether tending to an apartment full of greenery or cultivating gardens after moving into a house, she found joy and peace in nurturing life. Her love for birds—especially small ones—was another reflection of her gentle heart and appreciation for nature’s quiet beauty.

Faith played an important role in Imo’s life. She was an active member of Kansas New Vision Church in Overland Park, where she found spiritual strength and community.

Imo's legacy lives on through her surviving family: her nephew and niece, James and Summer Hill and family; her son, Kyung Woo Kim; her sister, Yong Shim Kim; and her brother, Yong Gu Kim. She is reunited in rest with loved ones who passed before her: her father, Chang Soo Kim; mother, Dae Soon Seo; sister, Tu Yo Kim; brother-in-law, Doug Hill; and sons, Kyung Ha Kim and Kyung Rim Kim.

Those who knew Imo will remember her as one of the sweetest souls they encountered—always putting others before herself, always offering kindness without condition. May her memory bring comfort to all whose lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held on July 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Kansas New Vision Church, 8200 W. 96th St.
