Phillip Guy McLeod, born September 10, 1950, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Neal Alexander and Dolores McLeod, passed away on July 27, 2026, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Phil accepted Christ as a twelve-year-old in his family’s Baptist church. He was a talented athlete, a team player with a competitive spirit and a natural gift for connecting with people. As a teenager, he discovered an unexpected talent for sales while working in men’s clothing, also working alongside his father in a chemical factory. But his ability to relate to others soon led him to a career as a life insurance salesman in Dearborn, Michigan.

Phil’s life was not without hardship, and he faced more than his share of challenges with strength and determination. He was saved from military duty in Vietnam by a high school sports injury but would have been happier to serve. Through many trials, he remained known for his charisma, drive, and resilience.

Despite his success selling insurance, Phil needed to fulfill his love of music and worked as a stagehand for large touring musical plays when they came through Detroit. It was there that he met his future wife, an actress. Their travels took them to live in Burbank, California, and Traverse City, Michigan, before settling in Kansas City, where he was an active prayer missionary with the International House of Prayer.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacalyn; his daughters, Alexandra Gillotte and Madelyn McLeod Miller; ten grandchildren; his brother Scott and his wife Jane, and the family and friends who loved him and will carry his memory forward.

Phil will be remembered for his energy, his encouragement, his athletic talent, his ability to sell with warmth and confidence, and the strength with which he met life’s difficulties. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
