Rev. Dr. Freddie Mae Cullins

September 18, 1947 — February 3, 2022

Kansas City, Kansas

reddie Mae Cullins was born September 18, 1947, to Fred Stewart and Hallie Mae Stewart in Kansas City, Kansas.

From elementary through high school Freddie Mae was educated in Kansas City public schools. She graduated from Sumner High School.  She completed courses at City College. For 35 years she worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Freddie Mae was a phenomenal woman of God. She reared her four children to love God with all of their hearts, to pursue him and to serve him.  It was amazing how the love of God permeated everything she did. She will always be remembered for the most amazing smile you would ever see; it simply embodied love.  She was love personified.  In 2007, for her 60th birthday celebration the theme was “An Evening to Remember as We      Celebrate a Living Angel on Earth” and it was such a perfect theme and truly conveyed how her family thought of her.

Freddie Mae served under several ministries over the course of her life.  For much of her life at Bethel COGIC, and most recently Greater Faith Community Church, where she was a minister and served in multiple other vital capacities, including bringing the Word whenever requested. In 2021, she received an honorary doctorate from First Fruits Convention and became Dr. Freddie Mae Cullins!  This was a proud moment for her and her family.

Freddie Mae was known all over the country for her famous fried chicken! Not only have people paid for her to make it, but once they had it, they talked about it for years to come.  What was so remarkable to her family was she did nothing additional to it, she used flour, salt and pepper. She

always told her family, “I just cook with love!” And wow, could you tell and taste it!

She was also admired for the way she dressed and her exquisite hairstyles as very classy, stylish and always lady-like.

Freddie Mae was married to Canan Cullins, Sr. on September 17, 1967. They were married until she transitioned to be with the Lord. Freddie Mae was blessed with 4 lovely children over the course of her life. She loved her four children, would do anything for them and was so proud of each and every one of them.

Freddie Mae was so close to each of her siblings and had a uniquely special relationship with each of them. In addition to her family and friends, she enjoyed the Lifetime Movie Network, and watched it avidly.

Freddie Mae transitioned to Glory on February 3, 2022, and is now with our Heavenly Father.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Stewart and Hallie Mae Stewart; father in-law, Charles Harrison; sisters, Brenda Gibson, Emma Jean Miller; brother: Dale Stewart and Son: Cavill Cullins.

She is survived by her husband Canan Cullins, Sr., Children: Daughter: Camisha (Eric) Walker, Sons: Canan Cullins, Jr. and Carvaughn (Rhonda) Cullins. Mother-in law: Edwynne Harrison, Sisters: Annie Boyd, Geneva (Leo) Strickland, Beanna Shane, Twila (Michael) Miller, Brother: Deacon Frank R. (Dianne) Stewart, Sr., Brothers-in-law: Reginald McKamie and Vonzell McKamie, Grandchildren: Ca’lissa Barnett, William Bailey, Caleb Bailey, Tiffani Bates, Meagan Bates, Jamia Cullins and Dolan Cullins; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
