Richard K. Dennis

Richard “Dick” Dennis 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025. He was born April 7, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Ray and Beulah Dennis. Dick had many accomplishments and lived life to the fullest! He graduated from Fort Osage High School in Independence, Missouri in 1963. Dick married Cheryl Jones on November 5, 1966. He pursued his career in the Sheetmetal trade and began his apprenticeship on June 22, 1964. He then became a Journeyman, as well as a Shop Foreman and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local #2. He will be honored on November 1, 2025 for his 50 year Sheet Metal Service pin.

In his journey he became a Mason, Shriner, Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Lathrop Tractor Club. He had a love for motorcycles as well, especially Harley’s! His friendships and memories will be cherished always and forever! The laughs he shared with all of us will be remembered in our hearts.

Dick loved being outdoors and cherished the older simple way of life. He loved being in Lathrop and Chillicothe with his friends and family. “Fixing” things up is what made him happy!

Hunting for the next treasure was the highlight of his day! As Dick would say, “we only want red Farmall Tractors, no green ones are allowed!”

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, uncles, and nephew Craig Horton. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, sister Janet, son David Dennis (Danielle), daughter Christy Cain (Timothy), grandsons Keegan (Kelli), Connor, Parker, granddaughters Madisyn, Rachel and Rebecca (Isaiah), great grandchildren Elijah and Delilah. Sister in laws Mary Ellen and Lori (Doug), many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to Mary Ellen Baker, Dick’s sister in law, former Hospice Nurse of NKC Hospital for taking Dad into her home to take care of him to make his last days peaceful. We also want to thank Visiting Nurse Association. They provided such a wonderful resource and support system for both our Dad and Family!
