Richard James Saffley

Richard James Saffley, age 70, passed away on September 3, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1956, in San Diego, California, to Helma and Harold Saffley. Richard worked for Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant for 10 years before retiring in 2018. He shared 41 years of marriage with his wife, Evelyn Saffley, building a life surrounded by family and loved ones. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Helma and Harold Saffley. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Evelyn Saffley; his sons, Justin Saffley and Daniel Bratton; his daughter, Trish Gibbs; his sisters, Janet Eidie and Diane Cook; and his three grandchildren, three grandsons and one granddaughter, 2 nephews along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Richard will be remembered with love by those whose lives he touched, and his memory will continue to live on through his family. The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Richard’s hospice team at Catholic Charities Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Richard and his family.
