Richard Gordon Smith was born March 8, 1969, in Gary, Indiana, to Tomy Kirby and Helen L. Smith.

Richard accepted Christ at an early age. Richard attended Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, where he earned his Diploma. After High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from September 1986 to April 1991. During his time, he earned several awards: Medical Laboratory Specialist- May 26, 1989. VII Corps, USA Army, Europe, and Seventh Army- April 22, 1991. Richard traveled the world during this time. Living in Ohio, Houston, TX, Italy, Retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Where he started doing Security and Bodyguard work, Richard moved to Kansas City, MO, and that’s where he built his life and settled until his passing.

Richard was employed with A.L.L.L. Security when he first moved to Kansas City, MO. He then went to A-Team Security, where he remained employed until his passing. Richard set a standard here in Kansas City when it came to security/ bodyguard work. He played no games and took protecting people and their establishment to heart. He would put himself on the front line for anyone to ensure no one got hurt. He was the epitome of Protect and Serve. Richard held many positions in accounting as well with Custom Truck and Russell Stover’s candy company. He was always supporting small businesses in the community, and if you needed free promotion, he was your guy! He simply loved supporting and being there for others. He protected many music artists when they came to concerts; he protected private events and clubs in the city almost every night. He showed up when others would not.

Richard departed this life on August 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Rebecca Smith and his Best Friend Royce Jeffries.

Lauderdale, FL; Gwendolyn (Halick) Campbell (aunt) Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. His special friend Lisa Browning (Kansas City, MO); His brotherhood “The Azzholes” and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends.
