Ricky Dean Hardy, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on April 15, 2026. Born on November 14, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, Ricky brought warmth, laughter, and music to the lives of everyone who knew him.
Ricky was the cherished son of A.R. Hardy and Eula Maude Hardy. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his siblings Eugene and Josephine Hardy, and his eldest son, Ricky Hardy Jr. His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted special friend, Georgia Binder; his son, Randall Hardy; his son Myles (Rudy) McMillon and his daughter Ebony Williams; beloved grandson Jai’Sean Fell-Fuller; and his siblings, Arthur Ray Hardy and Roxanne “Roxy” Hardy. In addition, Ricky's legacy lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ricky was a proud graduate of East High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he first developed his passion for music. His talent as a drummer was renowned, and he spent many joyful years playing in various music bands, sharing his love for rhythm and melody with audiences far and wide. His passion and confidence shone through every performance, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
In service to his country, Ricky joined the US Army, where he was known for his discipline and commitment, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. His military service was a testament to his character—brutally honest, caring, and always ready with a humorous remark to lighten even the heaviest of hearts.
A baptized member of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Ricky’s faith was an integral part of his life. His involvement with the church community was marked by kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear to those in need.
Ricky's caring nature extended beyond his family and friends; he was a beacon of light, spreading joy and laughter wherever he went. His life was a beautiful symphony of love, humor, and dedication, and his spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.
As we reflect on Ricky's extraordinary journey, let us celebrate a life filled with music, love, and unwavering honesty. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a blessing to all who loved him.
A memorial service to honor Ricky Dean Hardy will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church music program, ensuring Ricky's love for music continues to inspire future generations.
