In Loving Memory of Ronald Smith

Ronald Smith, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, departed this life on December 29, 2025.

Life Reflections

Born on December 21, 1950, Ronald grew up with a spirit of service. He was educated at Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas, where he earned his diploma before pursuing EMT courses. His early career was marked by his commitment to his community, serving several years as an EMT and proudly serving in the National Guard.

On December 21, 1975, he married the love of his life, Janet Smith (Waterman). The two were married for 40 years before her passing in 2016.

Ronald’s professional journey was defined by loyalty and hard work. He spent over 20 years as a computer technician for Western Union, followed by another 20-plus years of service with the North Kansas City School District.

In his personal life, Ronald enjoyed flying his remote-controlled airplanes and helicopters with his flying club, working on his many, many computers, spending time at his church in which he was a deacon before his health declined, or hanging out with his favorite neighbors Bonnie and Alan.
