Ronnie James “Papa” Smith, 63, passed away on June 21, 2025, in Lathrop, Missouri. Born on July 22, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, Ronnie lived a life defined by dedication to his craft, deep love for his family, and a generous spirit that touched many. For over three decades, Ronnie worked as a skilled carpenter. His hands built more than just structures—they built a legacy of hard work and craftsmanship that will be remembered by those who knew him. Whether on the job site or lending a hand to someone in need, Ronnie was known for his tireless work ethic and willingness to help others.Family was at the heart of Ronnie’s world.

He was a devoted father to his children: son Aaron Shipley (Tommi Scott), daughter Anna Marie Yazel, daughter Ronnie Renee Bernal (Ethan Harper), and daughter Kayla Louise Bernal. Nephew Dean Smith (Carmen Smith). He cherished his role as “Papa” to his grandchildren: Jameson Harper, Remington Harper, Winston Harper, Stetson Harper, Waylon Harper, Kwaun Smith, Xi’Ayr Smith, Dylan Blake, Roman Hernandez, and Ciara Vaden. His time with them brought him immense joy and pride.
