February 19, 1951 – April 1, 2026
Ruth Denice “Dee” Trainor (Seastrand) was born on February 19, 1951, and passed away on April 1, 2026.
Ruth lived a vibrant and multifaceted life, dedicating herself to both her work and her community. She served as a nurse and later became a bar owner and thrift shop owner. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her professions, as she worked as a volunteer coordinator and fundraiser, contributing her time and energy to organizations such as KKFI, KCPT, and the National WWI Museum. She was also involved in estate sales and expressed her creativity as an artist.
Ruth had a remarkable gift for connection and quickly became the best friend of everyone she met. She was known for her ability to listen without judgment, offering guidance only when asked. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Trainor, and her beloved basset hounds, Tucker, Abby, and Cooper.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held as a bar crawl on Saturday, May 9, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The gathering will begin at Piano Room (332 W. 75th Street), continue to Patrick’s Bar and No Grill (8251 Wornall Road), and conclude at Flo’s Poke-A-Dot Lounge (8934 Wornall Road). Transportation will be provided between locations. Light snacks will be available, and donations of food are welcome.
Ruth’s life was a testament to compassion, creativity, and community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
