It is with great gratitude, love, and tears of joy that we announce our beautiful Ruth J. Williams has gained her eternal wings at the amazing age of 90. A woman of unwavering faith, immeasurable love, and strength stronger than any of us could match, Ruth left a forever lasting impact on this world surrounded by family and friends, leaving behind a legacy that will live on for generations.
Born on May 29, 1935, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she was a proud graduate of Sumner High School, class of 1954. Ruth was a pillar of every community she graced her presence with, and a heart of gold seen by everyone. She devoted her life to serving others with compassion, grace, and humility. Her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ that guided her through every season of life, and she was a faithful servant until the very end. She was the Co-founder and First Lady of Prince of Peace under The Founder of Prince of Peace MBC, Pastor Reverend C.L. Williams Sr.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ruth, was the glue that held her family together. Her home was a sanctuary where love, laughter, lessons, and the aroma of home-cooked meals were always in abundance. She taught by example—how to live with kindness, how to forgive, and how to love unconditionally.
Throughout her 90 blessed years, she touched countless lives with her wisdom, her gentle spirit, and her powerful prayers. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her quiet strength, and her unshakeable faith in God.
Most would say that our hearts are heavy, but in our case, that is not true. Our hearts are filled with happiness, and we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones gone before her, and resting safely in the arms of her Savior. She lived a life that we all yearn to be blessed with, so for that, we are extremely THANKFUL!
She was preceded in death by her Mother Nettie Thompson, daughters, Desiree Williams and Genita Williams; sons Donald Ray Williams and Daniel Herron, and Aunt Evelyn Grayson.
She is survived by children Rosalind Overton and Tracy “Mel” Williams, Charles and Valerie Williams, Keith Williams and Kenneth Williams; grandchildren, Maurice Herron, Kali Stevens, Khalilah Couch, Amber Overton, LaTonya Ellis , Rhonda Mims, Cofia Miller, Tangela Haytt,; and a host of great grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Her special companion Tommy/ Ernie (Doggy).
Today, and forever, we celebrate her life.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
