Sharon Ann Hessefort (Ferguson)

Sharon Ann (Ferguson) Hessefort, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 16, 2025, surrounded by love and peace. Born on June 20, 1943, in Independence, Missouri, Sharon was the daughter of George and Pearl (Lewis) Ferguson. She grew up in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School.

Sharon was a loving, funny, and friendly woman who cherished time with her family. She had a special gift for making people laugh and creating warm memories with those she loved. She found joy in planting flowers and had a natural talent for nurturing plants. She loved her lunches and outings with her sorority sisters. Family was at the heart of Sharon’s life. She treasured sleepovers with her granddaughter and movie nights with her grandson, moments filled with laughter and love. Shopping trips were another favorite pastime, often shared with those closest to her. Her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by her brother Randy Ferguson and his wife Vicki; her daughters Leigh Ann Lewis and Amanda (Hessefort) Peterson and husband Casey; her grandchildren Isaak Peterson, Makayla Peterson, Connor Burgess, and Katelin Reynolds; and her great-granddaughter Olivia Reynolds. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Ferguson; her brother Larry Ferguson; and her son Brent Burgess.

Sharon’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May the warmth of her laughter and the beauty she cultivated continue to bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

A celebration of life will be May 3rd at Lake Tapawingo clubhouse. Details to follow.
