Sherry Gail Roberts (Cornelius)
December 17, 1949 – February 3, 2026 Sherry Gail Roberts, 76, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Sedalia, Missouri on December 17, 1949, to the late Alson Lee and Polly Jean (Farris) Cornelius. Sherry spent much of her life in the Independence and Blue Springs, Missouri areas before recently moving to Overland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Roberts, who passed away in 2012, both of her parents, and her sister, Jenifer Moore. She suffered a tremendous loss in the death of her oldest daughter, Teri Cook, and son-in-law, Doug Cook, both of whom passed on February 10, 2021.She is survived by her youngest daughter, Kristy Anderson, and her husband, Shawn, of Kansas City, Kansas as well as her four grandchildren: Austin Anderson and his wife Christina, of Tonganoxie, Kansas; MacKenzie Seelbach and her husband TJ, of Kansas City, Kansas; Cody Cook and his wife Sierra, of Independence, Missouri; and Alexis Cook of St. Louis, Missouri. Sherry was the proud "Grammy" to five great-grandchildren: Easton Anderson, Avery Anderson, Daniel Seelbach, Madeline Seelbach, and Graham Cook. She is also survived by two brothers, Allen Cornelius of Greenwood, Missouri and Darel Cornelius and his wife Cheryl of Kansas City, Missouri, along with an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sherry will be remembered for her feisty, strong-willed personality, her love of the Kansas City Chiefs, hummingbirds, and her sweet pup Maribelle. Following a conversation with her daughter, Kristy, regarding her faith, her loving family is at peace knowing that she is with the Lord. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2-5pm at Fellowship West, 12320 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66109 followed by a private ash scattering ceremony at a later date.
