Shirley Marie Loney, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away July 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Born September 16, 1941, in Stoutsville, MO, she was the daughter of Rollie Earl Crow and Gertrude Marie Crow. Shirley’s life was full of love, humor, and family dedication.
Shirley grew up in Monroe City, MO, alongside her sister Irene as best friends through life.
In 1968, she gave birth to her one and only son, Jeff, who was the apple of her eye, and together they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to build a better life.
In 2000, Shirley retired after 30 years working for the government with the Social Security Administration to spend more time with her grandchildren, and anyone could see that was her favorite time of life.
When Shirley wasn’t playing dominoes, cards, board games, working crossword puzzles, or absolutely spoiling her grandbabies, you could find her making the most beautiful quilts, reading, or crocheting.
Her life was marked by quiet strength, a little bit of stubbornness, and a kind soul. However, her unwavering love of her family will forever be her legacy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Loney (Lavette) of Oak Grove, MO; her grandchildren, Christopher Loney, Sadie Loney, and Dylan Loney; her great-granddaughter, Skylar Loney; her sister, Irene Zieger; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and many chosen family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Gertrude Crow; grandparents, Hiram and Ida Mae Crow; grandparents, Edward and Mary Clary; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Zeiger.
At Shirley’s request, no public services will be held.
