Stanley was born January 9, 1944, to parents Ruth and Wesley Lazenby of Independence, Missouri. Growing up, Stan enjoyed riding horses, playing with his dog, Inky, and tagging along with his big sister, Nancy. Stan graduated from William Christman High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter. He proudly served his country from 1962 through 1965 in the Air Transport Squadron, VR-7, as an airman apprentice flying on C-130s delivering supplies and lift transport.
After leaving the Navy, Stan moved back to Missouri, where he met his wife and mother of his first child, Sue. In July 1969, Stan and Sue welcomed their first child, John Lazenby. Though Stan and Sue shared a love for one another and their son, they parted ways in 1973. Stan continued to stay in the Kansas City area for many years, working in construction and riding motorcycles.
In 1976, Stan met his wife, Deborah, with whom he had two daughters, Danielle and Lisa. Stan and Deb moved to Carrollton, MO, in 1987, where they settled and built many wonderful friendships.
Stan had a love for motorcycles, specifically Harley-Davidsons. Over the years, he had many bikes, all of which he enjoyed painting and customizing himself.
Stan had many talents; he loved working with his hands. In his spare time, he could often be found working in his shop building something or working on his bike. Stan made many things in his shop, including cradles for his grandchildren, wooden ornaments to gift to friends and family, and storage cabinets. He would often help his daughters with homework, specifically math, which he was very good at. He even built wooden Valentine boxes for Danielle and Lisa. He also loved to collect model cars, which his grandson Ronin loved to play with when visiting.
Though Stan and Deborah did not remain married, they continued to see one another as family and often attended events together. He loved his family and will be missed by many.
Stan is preceded in death by his son, John Lazenby; parents, Ruth and Wesley; sister, Nancy; brother, Charles; longtime partner, Carol Abate; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his children, Danielle Lazenby of Carrollton, Lisa Donovan (Erin) of Kansas City, stepson Darryn Meshau of Independence, and stepdaughter Dawn Esqubal (Art) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 11 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, and 3 great-grandsons.
