Steve loved the outdoors. He often referred to himself as a nature loving country boy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who never missed the opportunity to do either. He was an incredible man who never had an unkind word for anyone. He was a friend to all he met. Steve had a heart of gold who would help anyone in need. He is and forever will be greatly missed by so many.
Steve is proceeded in death by his mother, his father, his wife Phyllis, and a daughter Kimberly, affectionately known as Kimmy. He is survived by his children Christina Lewis (Rob), Catherine Smith (Mike Peyton) and Chris Smith (Jacque), his 17 grandchildren, Hailey (Kyle), Carson (Savannah), Connor (Mya) , Jackson , Brooklyn , Alexis, Danielle, Hannah (Rory), Madisyn , Elias (Josie), Braden , Issiah, Dillon , Aiden, Emma , Michael (Crystal), Kevin (Tony), and 7 great grandchildren, Gabe, Kylen, McKinley, Ava, Jake, Hunter and

Steve chose cremation as his final resting. He never wanted a funeral or memorial because to him, those were sad occasions and he wanted no one to cry. Steve was the life of the party with his smile, bright blue eyes and love of laughter. There are no services however to honor his wishes there will be a party that all are welcome to attend on June 6th, 2026 7pm at The Doghouse in Grandview Missouri. He wishes no tears, no sorrow, no mourning, he wants good people, with good stories, good music, and good beer. So please bring your smiles and give him the party he deserves.
