Steven W. Wilson

Steven Wayne Wilson, 64, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Belton, Missouri. He was born on September 21, 1959.

Steven was a cherished member of the Wing and A Prayer AA group for the last 26 years. He dedicated himself to supporting others in their journey to sobriety, serving as a sponsor and positively impacting the lives of many individuals. His selfless nature and unwavering commitment to helping others continued until his final days, as he attended a meeting just a week before his passing.

In his professional life, Steven enjoyed his work at the Sentimental Art Glass Company alongside his friend and mentor, Wade Walchak. Additionally, he found joy in culinary arts and entrepreneurship, owning his own contracting business.
Outside of work, Steven immersed himself in various hobbies. He was an enthusiastic reader, took pleasure in motorcycles and driving his red Ford Mustang convertible. He enjoyed cooking , a skill he taught him self after he thought he gave himself food poisoning at boy scout camp. In reality he had appendicitis. His charismatic personality also drew the attention of the ladies. He was a collector of small unique items and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Steven will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his sister Nancy Tennant and husband Jeff, brother Ronald Wilson and wife Linda, brother Kevin Murphy and life partner Stan Pirkle, sister Carolyn McIntyre and husband Pat, sister-in-laws Margaret Wilson and Margaret Hughes, Cherished friends Sid and Kelly Kuns and Rich Kent,  as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley "Elaine" Harkins, brothers Daniel, John, David Wilson, Robin Hutchinson, nephew Steven Powell, and adoptive sister Lynn Dickerson.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Steven's life will be held on Saturday, June 15th,  2pm to 3:30 pm at Wing And A Prayer, 539 N Scott Ave, Belton, MO 64012.

Steven's kindness, dedication, and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew him.
