In Loving Memory of Tammy Wynette Garrett
September 15, 1970 – July 8, 2026
Tammy Wynette Garrett passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 55, following a courageous battle with several health challenges.
Born on September 15, 1970, in Bakersfield, California, to Karen Faye Cofield and Verlon McDonald, Tammy spent the majority of her life in Bakersfield before relocating to Kansas City, Missouri, in her final years.
Above all else, Tammy believed in the power of family. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely, frequently stating that they were her greatest accomplishment. She was known for her boundless creativity and the passion she brought to every moment, leaving behind a wealth of cherished memories for those who knew her. Tammy possessed a unique gift for making others feel welcome and included, often sensing exactly when someone needed a sense of belonging. Her thoughtfulness was evident in her commitment to celebrating every holiday; she made a point of sending cards to her family to remind them that they were not alone and that she was thinking of them.
Tammy is survived by her brother, Ronnie Segroves; her three daughters, Brittnay Garrett, Amanda Garrett, and Krystia Clinger; and her two beloved grandchildren, Kiah and Brody. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karen Faye Cofield and Verlon McDonald, and her stepfather, Buster “Slim” Brown.
The family is currently making arrangements to return her to California. Service details will be announced at a later date.
“I loved you first, I love you still, I always have, and I always will. Love, Mom.”
