Tammy Lynn
Lopez
Jun 12, 1964 — Sep 3, 2026
Kansas City
Tammy Lynn (Dye) Lopez, 62, unexpectedly passed away on September 3, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten.
Tammy was born to Dennis and Phyllis (Dempsey) Dye. She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts. Family was an important part of Tammy’s life, but there was nothing she treasured more than being a mother and grandmother.
Tammy was the proud mother of three children: Corey Dye and his fiancé Laura, Christyn Horseman and her husband, Zach, and Joshua Dye. She was also a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Bentley, Braiden, Elijah, Ezra, and Rhett. Her children and grandchildren were at the center of her world, and they will carry countless memories of her with them throughout their lives.
Tammy also had an incredible love for animals. Her pets were truly members of her family, especially her two dogs, Daisy and Charlie, and her cat, Patches. They brought her companionship, comfort, and happiness.
Tammy graduated from Missouri Western State University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
One of the most difficult experiences of Tammy’s life was losing her mother, Phyllis, two years ago. The loss of her mom left a tremendous hole in her heart, and she missed her deeply. While Tammy’s family is experiencing that same heartbreak, there is comfort in knowing that Tammy and her mom are finally together again.
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Phyllis (Dempsey) Dye; her older sister, Denise Williams; her younger brothers, Richard Dye and Jesse Dye; her stepmom, Lana Dye; and her niece, Monica Williams.
She is survived by her three children, Corey (Laura) Dye, Christyn (Zach) Horseman, and Joshua Dye; her five beloved grandchildren, Bentley, Braiden, Elijah, Ezra, and Rhett; her sister, Lisa Dye; her brother, Gage Dye; as well as extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life honoring Tammy will be held on September 27, 2026, at 3 pm at Hyde Park in St. Joseph, MO.
Tammy’s life was centered around the people and animals she loved. The love she gave will continue through her children and grandchildren. Although her family would have wanted more time with her, the memories, lessons, laughter, and love she leaves behind will remain with them always.
To help support the family, donations can be made to KC Golden Gate Funeral Home to help cover the costs of her unexpected passing
