IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terrance Michelle
Yancy
July 7, 1956 – February 1, 2026
Terrance M.Yancy, a.k.a, Terry, was born on July 7, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union of Youseff Yancy and Betty Jean Yancy. He was the first of two children. Terrance peacefully passed away on February 1, 2026.
Terrance was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and received his education through Woodland Elementary School and Manual High School. He worked at Butternut Bakery and later took on various construction jobs.
Music was Terrance’s true passion and his place of peace. He loved playing his guitar and piano, filling rooms with sound and soul. Known for his laughter and his honesty, Terry always “kept it real—like it or not,” and those who knew him wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Terrance was preceded in death by his parents, Youseff and Betty Jean Yancy, and his beloved grandmother, Roberta Butler.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Sedia Davis (Stanton); his children, Terron M. Yancy (Lakyla), Deshon Yancy Stigger (Antwon), and Te’Sharra Yancy; five grandchildren, Shania, Tiauna, Jasyia, Terron Jr. and Kiersten Jones; and eight great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, especially by his grandchildren, who loved laughing at him and sharing joy in his presence.
Terrance Yancy’s laughter, music, and unmistakable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved.
