Tyisha Monique Gibson

Tyisha Gibson was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 10, 1983. She was the oldest of two children born to the union of Dorthy Gibson and Raymond Grayson / Joseph Taylor.

Tyisha graduated from Southeast High School in 2001. She went on to earn her CNA license and worked as a Pharmacy Technician.

Tyisha’s hobbies included illustrating nature and dancing. She was an excellent performer at the Alvin Ailey Summer Academy. To be near her was to feel understood without needing to explain. She had a gift for seeing people not just as they were, but as who they were trying to become.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Allyssia Dennis, Virgil Dennis Jr., and Skillar Prince Jr., and her grandson Emir Dennis. She is also survived by her nephews Ronnell Ivy Jr. and Dezmahn Jones; cousins LaToya Edwards and Jeremy Williams; and her great-aunt, Billy Joe. She will also be remembered by a host of great cousins, including LaTrell Edwards.

Tyisha is lovingly remembered by her close friends Kim, Nicole, and Tiffany. She also leaves behind her sister, Taneisha Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, and her aunt Patricia Gibson. Other surviving family members include her aunts DD, TT, and Corine, and her uncles Daniel Gibson, Michael Gibson, Tony Gibson, Joe, Michael Grayson, Darnell Grayson, and Raford Grayson, and a host of cousins and friends.

Tyisha was preceded in death by Elnories Edward, Betty Edward, Mary Larrieux, and Raymond Grayson Sr.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cemation Services, LLC, 2800 E. 18th St. Kansas City, MO 64127. The visitation will begin at 10:00am, the service will follow at 11:00am.
