IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tyler Scott
Wessley
November 11, 1993 – March 18, 2026
Tyler Scott Buchanan Wessley was born November 11, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and passed away on March 18, 2026 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Kathy Buchanan. He is survived by his loving, beautiful sister, Heather, and her partner, Jerald Brown. His brother in laws Jerard Brown, Robert Brown and 2 nephews.
Tyler returned to live in Lee's Summit, Missouri in 2005 after the death of his father. His mother, Kathy Buchanan, passed away of lung cancer in 2021.Tyler was a big sports fan. As a child in Las Vegas, he played soccer and always remembered the experience. He was a beautiful child and had the most amazing hazel eyes, with eyelashes that would be the envy of most women. Tyler had a loving heart for all living things (except the Wessley family chihuahua, who was admittedly a grouchy little beast). Otherwise, he had a reputation for spoiling pets. If you were hungry, Tyler was quick to give you his last dollar if you needed it. He enjoyed cooking....and eating! Fortunately his excellent metabolism kept him slim and handsome. He loved his family and truly wanted the best for people he knew.
Tyler was adopted by the Wessley family when he was an older teen. His Wessley siblings included Danny, Xandria, Ronnie, Joey, Chantz and Anya. He also had three bonus siblings, Eugene Wallace, Sylvester Wallace and Cecil Wallace. He will also be missed by his good friend, Colby Kilgore, and his cousin Danny Rodgers. Tyler and the other older boys at the Wessley house were basketball fanatics, and he often played at the local YMCA. It was not unusual to catch him roaming the neighborhood with a basketball in his hand. He also loved to play video games and loved to celebrate his wins even more. Tyler continued to be an epic eater, consuming candy at a legendary pace and enjoying a recipe called orange pasta. It warmed his adoptive mother's heart to see him sitting up to the dinner table slurping down a big bowl. Tyler was loved and cared for by many people. It is our sincere hope that he is able to understand and appreciate this. Cremation services were handled by Golden Gate. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
