Udonda Larniece Calloway, born on July 10, 1951, gained her wings on September 7, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospice House. She was the beloved daughter of John D. Erby and Marjorie Fantroy Erby, who both preceded her in death. Udonda grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Central High School in 1969.
In 1971, she united in marriage with James Bracy Sr., and together they had two loving sons, James Jr. and Jerron, who held their mother in the highest regard. Though her marriage to James Sr. ended, Udonda found love again in 2011 when she married Willie Calloway, with whom she spent the rest of her life.
Udonda leaves behind her loving husband, Willie Calloway, her devoted sons, James Bracy Jr. (Shanelle) and Jerron Sr. (Elisha), her stepdaughter Beth Ann (Samuel), and a legacy of cherished grandchildren: Shannon, Issac, James III, Jasmine, Jerron Jr., Jadin, Jaxon, Shaquarrius, Quanderrius, Joseph, Jeremiah, and Samantha. Sisters, Johnella, Elizabeth, and Dedrick; And Brother, Martin. She also leaves behind her adored nieces and nephews, Danielle, Artay (Tammy), Barry Jr. (Teresa), Johnell, and Aaron (Rauchelle); great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and great-nephew, and a host of family and friends.
Udonda worked and retired from the Social Security Administration, serving her community with dedication and compassion. A woman of strong faith, Udonda was a longtime devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, before becoming a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She found peace in gospel music and enjoyed watching Christian television, her spirit always nourished by the Word.
Udonda deeply valued family and the idea of the "village," a principle she embodied through her love and devotion to her niece and nephews.She will be remembered for her love, strength, and unwavering faith. Her memory will forever give on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, visitation 10 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Golden Gate located at 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64127. I nterment will be in Brooking Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
