Vandell
Purnell
December 11, 1971 – April 14, 2026
Vandell “Pee Wee” Purnell, born December 11, 1971, left his earthly vessel behind on April 14, 2026. He attended Paseo High School and was known from a young age for the way he showed up for the people in his life; consistently, generously, and without hesitation.
Vandell was the kind of person you could always count on; whether it was fixing your brakes, cutting your grass, or simply being there when you needed a hand, he gave his time and energy freely. He was a reliable friend, a devoted family man (often taking the children to seven oaks to play), and someone who made everyday life a little easier for those around him.
Pee Wee also knew how to bring joy into any room. He loved to two-step at parties and had a gift for making sure everyone was having a good time. His presence was warm, steady, and unforgettable.
Vandell was preceded in death by his father, Ventrola Purnell; his daughter, Laeisha Green; and his sister Vera Kimble. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Lena Mae Purnell; his daughters, Amia, VanShay, and Vantriece; his son, Jordan; his siblings, Ven Edward, Delores, and Michael; his grandkids and host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Pee Wee’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness and humor. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A service will be held Saturday April 25, 2026 at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services LLC. 2800 East 18th Street Kansas City , Mo. 64127. The visitation will begin at 2pm-3pm with the service to follow promptly at 3pm.
