Vincent L. Russell, 66, of Kansas City, MO, passed away suddenly on January 17, 2026. Vincent was born on July 8th,1959, to Isaac and Ruth Russell at Craig Air Force Base(Selma), Alabama.
Vincent, called Vince by his friends and family, graduated from Southeast Senior High School in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1977, and went on to serve 11 years in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.After the Army, he completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems in 1995 and then worked for the Raytown School District in their technology division and as a continuing education instructor. He took an early retirement in 2015 due to health issues.
In his retirement, Vincent had many interests. He was an avid car restorer, model train enthusiast, and traveler. He also maintained several large aquariums with over 25 different fish species. He was known by his friends and neighbors for his outgoing personality and willingness to help out. He was the president of his Homeowners Association for several years.
He had no children of his own but was the favorite uncle to his nephews and nieces. He is survived by his siblings, Glenn (Carmen)Russell of Fairfax, Virginia; Rebekah Russell of Hampton, Virginia;Glenn (Charlotte) Rice of Grandview, Missouri, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Ronald Russell.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday,January 29, 2026, at Golden Gate Funeral & Cremation Services,LLC, 2800 East 18th Street, Kansas City, MO 64127. Interment will take place at a later date at the Washington Family Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama.
