William Russell Banks was born on January 24, 1938, in Kansas City, KS, to the union of Eugene Banks, Sr and Jamesetta Banks. He peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2026, at the age of 88. He was a proud graduate of Sumner Academy's class of 1957 and began a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to serving others. William dedicated 45 years of faithful service to the United States Postal Service, a career he truly loved. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Banks, Sr.; his mother, Jamesetta Patterson; his brother, Eugene Banks, Jr.; and his sisters, Delores Banks, Diane Davis, Rosetta Lee, and Gail Lyons.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Laurette Banks; his loving children, Kenneth Banks, Mark Banks, and Suzette Banks Jackson; his precious grandchildren, Tyler Banks, Summer Jackson, and Breonna Banks; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
