William Robert
Sander
Mar 31, 1961 — Aug 10, 2026
Blue Springs
William Robert Sander, age 65, of Kansas City, passed away on August 10, 2026.
Will was born on March 31, 1961, in Liberia to William P. Sander and Janet M. Sander while they were living and working in Africa. Growing up, Will lived in Connecticut. Will had a love for drumming and created many fond memories through drum corps. He later studied architecture and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design.
He married Kimberly Bradley Sander in May of 1989. They shared 32 wonderful years of marriage and raised two children together, Bradley and Benjamin. Will worked as an architect for much of his life, but what was most important to him were his family, his many passions, and his faith. Will was a man who could pick up an idea and just run with it. Whether it was joining bands, building telescopes in his garage, building and publishing apps, writing and publishing a book, traveling with his Miata group, or helping his beloved wife with her businesses, Will put his whole heart into everything he did and made many friends along the way.
Faith was an important part of Will’s life. He spent much of his life involved in his church and working to spread his faith and joy in Jesus. There was never a stranger to Will, just a brother or sister he hadn’t met yet. Will had long awaited being reunited with his beloved Kim in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim; his brother, Tim; and his parents, William and Janet. He is survived by his sons, Bradley and Benjamin; his brother, Tom; and his cherished and faithful pup, P’Nut.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Coventry Estates Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri. William will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
